Meter loop
pole must be at least five inches across, round or square.
Meter enclosure must be between five and six feet from ground level.
Maximum horizontal distance from JEC pole to meter loop pole is two hundred feet.
Minimum trench depth is thirty six inches.
Only underground meter bases will be accepted.
Metal conduit or schedule 40 gray PVC (hereafter referred to as conduit) is allowed. The minimum size is two and one-half inches in diameter.
Wide radius ninety degree "L"'s are required on each end.
No more than one wide radius forty-five degree angle is allowed between the poles.
A pull string of suitable strength is required to be installed in the conduit.
An appropriate sized weather head and twenty feet of additional conduit left on-site for Cooperative use during installation is required.
The consumer is responsible for furnishing the trench and conduit and installing the conduit in the trench from the ground level of the JEC pole to the meter base. The JEC pole end should be above ground level and two inches away from the JEC pole with the pull string secured and the end covered to prevent filling with water. The other end should be connected to the meter base and the pull string secured to prevent loss. The Cooperative requires an inspection prior to and filling. After approval, the Cooperative will furnish warning tape to be installed one foot above the conduit. The tape should extend from the JEC pole to the meter loop pole horizontally.
The Cooperative will furnish the warning tape, furnish and install the conductor, and install any additional PVC and weather head required on the JEC pole.
A main breaker of adequate size as required by the National Electric Code is required on the meter loop pole. A minimum meter loop must be at least 240 volt, 3 wire and contain #6 copper conductor.
An eight foot by one-half inch copper clad ground rod is required to be installed in undisturbed soil.
Any other cables, wires, pipes, etc. in this trench must be separated by twelve inches.
