Eleven Scholarships Awarded

Each year, JEC is honored to award scholarships to deserving high school and college students who are the children of our members.  The money for the scholarships does not come from the Cooperative’s funds, but is derived from a fund prescribed by the State of Texas.  A portion of money which normally would have been escheated to the State is returned to JEC for this purpose.
The amount available to JEC for this use varies each year.  JEC’s Board of Directors, acting on the availability of funds, voted to give 11 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to deserving students in 2011.
These scholarship recipients were selected by a panel of impartial judges who represent our service area, through a process of scoring the applicants on content of the essay which they were required to submit, the perceived likeliness of success in college and the perceived financial need.
